When we set out to design our first crash pad, we had one thing in mind: creating the ultimate bouldering pad for us climbers who push the limits. We asked ourselves, what would make the perfect pad for tackling highball boulders and tricky landings? After countless hours of testing and feedback from fellow climbers, the Zone Plus crash pad and the XL Zone Plus was born.
One standout feature is the addition of a “blubber pad” with every crash pad. As boulderers, we know the importance of keeping your shoes clean for precise footwork, especially on gritty outdoor rock. The blubber pad helps protect your shoes during low starts and safeguards the rock, ensuring it’s climbable for years to come. It’s also great for covering jagged rocks or roots near the landing zone, so you’re covered in case of an unexpected fall.
We made the Zone Plus series pads thicker than your average crash pads, perfect for those big sends where you need extra cushion and confidence when you’re climbing higher off the ground. The durable, long-lasting foam ensures your pad holds up, session after session.
For easy transport, we included adjustable shoulder straps and designed the pad to allow multiple pads to be strapped together, making long approaches or multiple trips to the crag easier.
Lastly, we chose a rock-textured surface for the landing area and the underside of the pad. Let’s face it—crash pads get dirty fast. With this design, we’ve made them look better for longer, even after they’ve seen plenty of action. Plus, fewer curious looks from hikers wondering why you’re hauling a muddy mattress on your back!
